What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides non-medical emotional and physical support. We also help with communications between the birthing mother, her family, and her care team. We do not replace the mother's partner in any way.

What types of births do doulas support? 

I am available to support any type of birth. This includes but not limited to, unmedicated vaginal, medicated vaginal, C-sections, home births and birthing centers

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

Your partner will be your main support person. I will be there to help guide them in some comfort measures and help them if needed during the different stages of labor.

What are your interactions with medical staff like?

I am there to help maintain positive communication with you and your care team. If you have questions or concerns I can assist with getting clarifying answers. I am there if your care team needs assistance with anything. Support person.

Do you perform any physical examinations?

As a doula, I am not medically licensed to perform exams such as vaginal exams and fetal heart monitoring, diagnose or give medical advice. I also am not able to make decisions for you but I will support you with any decision you and your partner make.

What is Placenta encapsulation?

Placenta encapsulation is when the mother consumes her placenta after delivery. The placenta is steamed, dehydrated, ground and put into capsules for the mother.

What are the benefits of consuming my placenta?

There are many health benefits to consuming your placenta. This includes but is not limited to decrease in Postpartum depression, decrease in stress hormones, increased production of oxytocin, restored iron levels, increased milk supply.

What are possible health risks for consuming my placenta?

Ingesting your placenta may cause increased anxiety, jitteriness, and possible infection if your placenta is not stored properly after birth.

How long is the Placenta encapsulation process?

This process can take anywhere from 24-48 hours depending on which process you choose.
